Little Greene National Trust Collection

Little Greene National Trust Collection

Date posted: 06 February 2018

With over 500 properties, the National Trust is an unprecedented resource for decorative research; a unique portfolio which includes some of the most significant historic interiors in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Authenticity and integrity in our historical referencing is really important to us, so a colour research project with the endorsement of the National Trust – sitting alongside wallpaper patterns from our ongoing partnership with English Heritage and their archive, helps cement our academic status and continues to feed our contribution to contemporary interior design.

Little Greene’s Managing Director, David Mottershead, is thrilled about the new relationship: “As custodians of historic decoration, the National Trust and Little Greene have a real synergy: conservation, restoration and reinvention are at the heart of everything both organisations hold dear. The National Trust’s ethos of protecting the past for the benefit of future generations echoes Little Greene’s approach to the rediscovery and use of historical colour and pattern in the 21st century. We can’t wait to get under the skin of some of the Trust’s most cherished houses, uncovering old colours and telling the stories of these grand homes and the people who originally used them…”

In addition, Little Greene will supply interior and exterior paints for the Trust’s restoration projects in a spectrum of existing and ‘new’ Little Greene shades. A small contribution from the sale of every can of paint will be made in support of the National Trust’s never-ending conservation work, ensuring the best-loved properties of the past can continue to be enjoyed by young and old alike.

Our collaboration with the National Trust is an obvious progression in our journey to help preserve our historic environment and to undertake colour research that is so very important to the authenticity of our product.

Taking effect from 18th January 2018, Little Greene have rebranded their paint colourcards, tins and brochures with the National Trust logo, and research has already begun to work towards a new collection of archive colours, found in the Trust’s properties

Our important relationship with English Heritage will remain and we will continue to produce wallpaper collections together, providing heritage designs with contemporary colouring to modern day homes. Having found many stunning designs in the English Heritage archive, we are extremely enthusiastic about continuing to reproduce and adapt designs for consumers to enjoy a piece of history within their home.
